Don’t boo Lampard, Mikel begs Chelsea fans

Nigeria international John Mikel Obi has pleaded with Chelsea fans not to hoot at former player Frank Lampard when he leads Manchester City to the Stamford Bridge in Saturday’s English Premier League game.

Lampard scored 147 goals in 429 appearances in his 13 years stay with the Blues, he also got the equalizer in the first leg against his former club at the Etihad.

In their nine years together at Stamford Bridge, Mikel and Lampard won the Premier League title in 2010, the Champions League two years later, four FA Cups and the League Cup.

"The fans should definitely cheer Frank on," Mikel toldDailystar.co.uk.
"He is a club legend and I think that the fans will welcome him.
"It will be strange to play against him. During the game there is no friendship - but there will be after."
But before that comes Liverpool in the return leg of the Capital One Cup and the Nigerian hopes he is picked to play in what could be two of the toughest contests of the season.
"It was a really tough game against Liverpool," continued
"We did well with the way we competed and showed the character that we have in the team.

"We were disappointed conceding the goal but now we have to take the game back home and finish the tie," he concluded.
