Robert Pattinson's Batman Wears Adam West's Costume In '66 Mashup

Robert Pattinson's Batman dons Adam West's suit in this fan art mashup. As fans of the Caped Crusader know, Batman has been depicted numerous times in film and television since his first comics appearance in 1939. West played the character in the campy 1966 television show and the feature film based on it. Pattinson, the latest actor to take on the role of Batman, will offer a decidedly different take when he steps into the role for next year's The Batman, and fans couldn't be more excited. Director Matt Reeves has been open about how The Batman will be different than past versions of Bruce Wayne, from its focus on his detective side to its exploration of his trauma.

Production on The Batman was recently disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic for the second time. First, filming was suspended back in March when the pandemic first became a major concern in the UK. It was able to pick back up at the end of summer, but soon found itself halted once again when Pattinson himself tested positive for coronavirus. The Batman remained on hold while Pattinson recovered, and last week, it officially started up again once more.

Since there have been so many iterations of Batman, fans often enjoy combining the two in some form. This latest mashup comes from houseofmat and gives Pattinson's Batman a 1966 twist. While his Batsuit remains just as armored as it does in The Batman trailer, it features the same bat symbol as West's, as well as the gray designs on his mask. Check it out down below.

There are already high expectations surrounding Pattinson's Batman, particularly since he'll be following two positively-received portrayals: Ben Affleck and Christian Bale. As the most recent big screen Batmen, modern day audiences frequently remain loyal to those two. However, Pattinson has so far won over fans, and he even has the blessings of Bale and Affleck themselves.

Special attention has been paid to Pattinson's Batsuit, which was first revealed by Reeves back in February. According to Reeves, the Batsuit took one year to design, and fans have been especially eager to see Pattinson wearing it. It's notably different than the Batsuits that have come before, in that it definitely doesn't feature any bright colors or painted-on eyebrows. So far, Pattinson seems to be making the role his own, and there's a great deal of anticipation surrounding The Batman. While Batman has been depicted many, many different times, this feels like it'll be a brand new twist that fans will certainly enjoy.
