Read Story: SEASON 1 EPISODE 14

Amanda laid on the couch too exhausted from crying. It’s been approximately 40hrs since Jovita was kidnapped but there had been no word from the kidnappers. The police had said it could be a kidnap for ransom case.

But shouldn’t they have called by now if that’s the case. She thought to herself.

She had had sleepless nights and a restless day since she found out that jovita was kidnapped. She was alone at home since her’s and Ray parents where at the police station trying to find any news about Jovita while Ray had gone out to buy some snacks since she had refused to eat any food at home. In her hands was a picture of her daughter. A tear slid down her cheek as she looked at a replica of the man she loved. She was almost going into the crying section again when her phone rang.

She reached slowly for it on the glass table. It rang for the second time before she was able to answer it. The caller I.D was unknown.

Amanda: (in a weak voice) hello

caller: i’m sure you are wondering where your daughter might be?

Amanda’s interest was piqued and she quickly sat up.

Amanda: who are you and where is my daughter?

Caller: who i am is not of importance to you, what is important is if you would still love to see your daughter?

Amanda: yes…yes….please i want to see my daughter.

Caller: good. You are going to do everything i ask you to do.

Amanda: (teary voice) i’ll do anything you ask please just give me back my daughter, i beg you.

Caller: i’ll send you an address once we’re done with this call. You have an hour to go to that address alone, i repeat ‘alone’ if not you are going to receive your daughter in bits. (call ended)

Amanda’s heart went into her mouth immediately after the call. She didn’t know if she should be happy, sad or angry. Atleast now she knows that her daughter was safe or maybe not totally safe. She was jolted out of her thoughts with the ringing of her phone. It was a message containing the address and a strict warning for her to come alone.

Without much ado, she drove out of the house. She was tempted to call Ray but held herself back. She didn’t want to jeopardize her daughter’s safety for anything in the world. Her phone rang almost immediately. She picked it from the pigeon hole and saw that it was Ray.

He must be home. She thought to herself

She felt like answering it but stopped herself for fear of giving herself away. The warning kept ringing in her head and that gave her enough reason not to answer it.

Ray kept dialling Amanda’s number as he followed Amanda’s car in a safe distance. He was driving home when he saw her car at the junction and decided to follow her. At first he had thought she was trying to do something stupid but when he saw her drive into a lonely road, he realized something fishy. He watched her pack her car infront of a one-storey building. He glanced around and saw a sign with Austin’s street on it. There were only few uncompleted houses in the place. He quickiy fetched his phone and sent a message to her dad.

Amanda stared at the uncompleted one-storey building, then glanced around. Her phone rang and she flinced. It was the same number. She glanced around one more time before picking it. She listened as he ditched out order to her on what to do. She walked slowly towards the building. As she approached the building, her fear increased. She didn’t know what to expect inside. The question that kept ringing in her head was who could be responsible for the kidnap?

She ranked her brain on who she could have offended but found none. She felt she couldn’t face it alone and decided to send a text message to Ray. She was still composing the text when a message popped into her phone. It was short but enough to imbibe fear in her heart.

IF I WERE YOU, I WON’T TRY WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO DO. It read

she quickly put her phone away. She looked around her and caught sight of a man at the balcony at the far left end of the house who made a sign for her to walk into the house. And like someone being controlled, she did. Maybe it was fear of loosing her little angel that controlled her.

She met two men inside who led her through the stairs into a room. The person she met inside almost made her eyes pop out of their sockets. She didn’t want to believe what she was seeing. In the hands of the person she least expected was Jovita sleeping peacefully with no care in the world. The question that rang in her head as she looked at her smirk plastered face was ‘why’. If someone had told her that the person she trusted the most was the reason behind her misery, she wouldn’t have believed. Infact she would have rained fire and brimstone on such a person.
